Sweat Lodge

    Women’s Sweat Lodge

“To discover who she is, a woman must descend into her own depths. She must leave the safe role of remaining a faithful daughter of the collectives around her and descend to her individual feeling values.  To discover who she is, a woman must trust the places of darkness where she can meet her own deepest nature and give it voice…weaving the threads of her life into a fabric to be named and given…sharing it with the women around her as she comes to a true and certain sense of herself.” ~ Judith Duerk

Moving towards Winter we redress and regroup in the sweat, calling forth our final harvest before diving deep into the long winter sleep.

Join us as we journey deeply with the magic of mother nature asking the earth, the elements, our own nature and soul what we which seeds we wish to plant for the coming year.  To be discerning as we meditate, pray and ask for deep guidance, to add magic and potency to our dreams.

We will move, spend time in silence, in nature and come together in community for the Sacred Sweat Lodge.

A message from a recent participant:

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for holding such a beautiful space this weekend. I stepped into the lodge with curiosity and an open heart and mind, without really knowing what to expect….boy did it over deliver. What a transformative experience..better than any therapy! I think I will be processing it in body and mind for a while.
So, now you have converted me can I please book on to the next one. I’ll send payment today.
Much love,
Ali

What can I expect?

The sweat lodge is a purification ceremony. It purifies, it removes toxins, it relieves stress aches and pains and rejuvenates the body, mind and spirit. Time in the lodge gives us an opportunity to release blocks and negative thought processes so that we may move forward, grounded, centered, and clear on our intentions,

The lodge is a covered dome created out of bent willow saplings. During the sweat lodge hot volcanic stones are placed in a central pit in the dome and dowsed with water and herbs creating therapeutic steam. It is a safe and sacred space to cleanse body and mind. Through the sweat lodge we are able to bring ourselves closer to our ancestors and strengthen our connection with nature, thus helping us to bring balance and harmony into our lives.

Sweat lodges have been used in many different areas of the world for thousands of years and they continue to be used today for their cleansing and healing properties.

We have a maximum of 15 women per lodge. The sweat lodge consists of several ‘rounds’ each lasting approximately twenty to 40 minutes each. Each round may involve self-massage, singing, guided meditation, story-telling, or simply silence. Because the sweat lodge is an organic event each lodge will be a different experience and therefore all timings are approximate.

Women wear swimsuits, undergarments or opt to be naked in the lodge.  Please bring towels and a sarong.

During the lodge drinking water is available between rounds and after the lodge we share a delicious vegetarian supper.  Please bring food to share.

A Sweat lodge is NOT:

We do not use plant spirit medicine within our lodges.  We ask all individuals to take responsibility for their own health and well-being, if you have any medical concerns please check with your medical practitioner before attending.
